【2025新茶・祥泰茶莊】野放鳳凰単叢蜜蘭香｜Wild Feng Huang Dan Chong Mi Lang Xiang Oolong

 We have received special Wild Feng Huang Dan Chong Mi Lang Xiang Oolong, hand-picked in the wild tea plantations of Pinglin, Taiwan.

 The spring of 2025 saw fine weather every day from early April, when the production of Baozhong tea begins, making for ideal tea-making conditions. The mild weather continued until May, when a large number of grasshoppers (small green-leaf cicadas) appeared in various regions. The combined force of nature and the blessings of weather has resulted in the production of a large number of high-quality tea leaves across the country this year, from spring oolong tea to early summer honey-scented black tea.

 This time we'd like to introduce something a little special.
 The aroma and lingering flavor of Feng Huang Dan Chong tea are known as "mountain rhymes," making it a fine tea with a refined fragrance comparable to the "rock rhymes" of Wuyi Rock Tea and the "sound rhymes" of Anxi Tieguanyin Tea. This tea is grown in Pinglin, the home of Wenshan Baozhong Tea, and is made using the traditional Feng Huang Dan Chong Mi Lang Xiang Oolong tea method, which the tea maker learned in Guangdong Province. In other words, it is a Taiwanese tea made in faithful adherence to the authentic Chinese Feng Huang Dan Chong Mi Lang Xiang Oolong tea making method, rather than the Baozhong tea method.

 Pinglin is known as the birthplace of Wenshan Baozhong tea, but this tea isn't made using that method; instead, it's made using the traditional techniques of Feng Huang Dan Chong Mi Lang Xiang Oolong tea from China. Crafted in Taiwan using Chinese varieties and methods, is this tea "Chinese tea" or "Taiwanese tea"? Its status is intriguing, and every time you taste it, you'll find yourself pondering its origins.

 I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try it immediately after it was finished, and the moment I took a sip, I was hit with a rich, layered aroma of flowers, fruit, and honey, with a particularly mellow aroma reminiscent of ripe peaches spreading throughout my mouth. The taste was impressive, with a deep, long aftertaste that lingered forever.
