A Journey Through Taiwanese Tea
The complete picture of Taiwanese black tea 100 years later.

Tea production began in various parts of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period.

From among numerous potential locations, Sun Moon Lake was found to be the most suitable for cultivating Assam tea, marking the beginning of the history of authentic Taiwanese black tea. Subsequently, various varieties and production methods were developed in different regions, including "Ruby," which was created by crossbreeding native Taiwanese mountain tea with Assam. In recent years, many unique small-leaf black teas have also been produced in Oolong tea-producing regions.

Taiwanese black tea continues to generate new appeal, such as honey-scented black tea made possible by the small green leaf cicada.

This special feature traces the 100-year history of Taiwanese black tea, comparing five representative varieties and highlighting their differences and backgrounds. Furthermore, it includes a "Taiwanese Black Tea Encyclopedia" that organizes the black teas currently produced throughout Taiwan by region and variety, providing a comprehensive overview of Taiwanese black tea today.

Why not embark on a journey into the profound world of Taiwanese black tea, feeling the history, culture, and passion of the producers behind each cup?

[Autumn Taiwanese Tea to be included]

① Assam Black Tea | The starting point of Taiwanese black tea history

② Ruby Black Tea (Taiwanese Tea No. 18) | A representative black tea variety created in Taiwan

③ Taiwanese Mountain Tea Black Tea | The powerful and distinctive flavor hidden within the native Taiwanese variety.

④ Small-leaf black tea | A new world of Taiwanese black tea that originated in the oolong tea producing region.

⑤ Honey-Scented Black Tea | A unique Taiwanese black tea nurtured by nature and leafhoppers.
