Lunch menu

Main dish: Runbing (a thin, crepe-like dough filled with boiled vegetables such as bean sprouts and cabbage, as well as char siu pork and dried tofu, then wrapped up like a spring roll)

Sides: Luwei (a dish similar to oden, simmered in a soy sauce-based broth), pickles, etc.

Drink: Cold-brewed yuzu oolong tea

Dessert: Seasonal Taiwanese fruits (dragon fruit, passion fruit, mango, etc.)

★We have prepared a menu that vegans can enjoy with peace of mind★

And here's the dessert version of lumping! "Peanut Roll Ice Cream"

Originating in Yilan, this popular Taiwanese dessert, often found in night markets, consists of a thin crepe-like dough (runbingpi) filled with peanut flour, taro ice cream, and cilantro (coriander). It's characterized by a unique flavor profile, with the sweetness and aroma of peanuts, the coolness of the ice cream, and the distinctive taste of cilantro all harmoniously combined. (Of course, you can request it without cilantro, as you wrap it yourself!)

15:20 Explanation of Taiwanese tea tasting methods and a tasting of homemade green tea, three types of oolong tea prepared by a tea master, and black tea.

■ You can experience green tea making from the tea picking stage, but in the tea processing stage, all participants' tea will be pan-fried and dried together, and then divided into individual portions.

■Because black tea requires a long wilting time, the tea master will pick the tea leaves the day before the event. On the day of the event, each participant will hand-roll the tea leaves, and the finished black tea will be mailed to them at a later date. Therefore, there will be differences in the taste of each finished product. Please let us know your preferred shipping address (either Japan or Taiwan), and we will mail the finished product to you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Can I participate even if I have no knowledge of tea? Yes, you can participate. No specialized knowledge is required. We will carefully teach you the basics, from tea picking to tea processing and tasting. Even first-timers can participate with confidence.
Q2. Do you really make two types of tea in one day? Yes. You will actually make two types of tea in one day: Taiwanese green tea, which allows you to enjoy the withered aroma, and small-leaf black tea. It's a valuable experience where you can learn by comparing the processes. We will also explain the differences between Taiwanese green tea and Japanese tea, as well as the differences between Assam black tea, Sun Moon Lake black tea, and small-leaf black tea. The tea master will explain the tea-making process, and Lin will act as interpreter between Taiwanese and Japanese. Lin, the author of "Taiwanese Tea Textbook," will explain the differences and backgrounds of the teas.
Q3. Can I take the tea I made home with me? Yes. You can take the tea you made yourself home with you. It makes a special souvenir, both as a memento of your trip and as something to enjoy at home.
Q4. Is tea making difficult? Each step is demonstrated and explained by a professional Taiwanese tea master who consistently wins competitions. The course is structured so that even beginners can understand "why each step is done."
Q5. I am a vegetarian. Can I participate? We can accommodate vegetarian dietary needs. Please let us know if you are a vegetarian when you register or contact us in advance. *If you have specific requests regarding ingredients, eggs, dairy products, etc., please let us know in advance.
Q6. What kind of experience is a tea tasting contest? Based on the tasting criteria used in actual contests, you will experience how to evaluate aroma and taste. This is not a competition to determine the best tea, but rather an opportunity to learn the definition of "good tea" and how judges make their decisions. The goal is to hone your sense of taste and smell and cultivate your ability to discern good tea.
Q7. Is it possible to attend as a day trip from Taipei? Yes. The venue is located in Yilan County, and it is possible to attend as a day trip from Taipei. • Tea plantation location https://maps.app.goo.gl/AzRZpUQXJXmoiVhd8 • Meeting place Luodong Station (Taiwan Railways) Main Gate https://maps.app.goo.gl/EThTJJb3gE2rcsS2A
Q8. How do I get to the meeting place? There are mainly two ways to get there from Taipei. ① Train (Taiwan Railways Administration) Take the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) from Taipei and get off at Luodong Station. ② Bus ・Taipei Bus Station (directly connected to Taipei Station) Kamalan Bus "to Luodong" Travel time: Approximately 90 minutes (advance reservation required) ・Taipei City Hall Bus Station (directly connected to MRT City Hall Station) Capital Bus "to Luodong" Travel time: Approximately 70 minutes (no reservation required) *This bus is close to the highway and less affected by traffic jams, so it arrives relatively quickly. In both cases, after getting off at Luodong Bus Terminal, it's about a 5-minute walk to the TRA Luodong Station. If you are coming from areas other than Taipei, such as Hualien, we recommend taking the TRA and getting off at Luodong Station.
Q9. How do we get from the meeting point to the tea plantation? We will travel from the meeting point, Luodong Station on the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), to the tea plantation by taxi. The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. The taxi fare is included in the participation fee, so you do not need to pay the taxi driver directly.
Q10. Are there any specific requirements regarding clothing or belongings? Since you will be working in tea fields, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. A hat, towel, and drinks are also recommended.
Q11. What happens if it rains? The event will be held even if it rains. Rain gear and ponchos will be provided, and we will offer a tea-picking experience unique to rainy weather. A tea master will explain precautions for tea production in rainy weather, as well as the impact on aroma and taste.
Q12. Is it okay to participate alone? Yes, solo participants are welcome. Many people participate alone each time, creating a natural atmosphere where tea lovers can easily connect.
