2026 Spring Tea New Arrivals!

Yilan Tea Spring Tea New Variety (Taiwan Tea No. 12 Jinxuan) Gold Plate Contest No.220

In Yilan County, a tea leaf contest is held twice a year, in spring and winter, divided into two categories: Qingxin Oolong and new varieties (improved varieties such as Taicha No. ○).

This particular batch is made from tea leaves that won the "Gold Medal" in the new variety category in Spring 2026. It's a special batch that my mentor secured immediately after the award, before other buyers rushed in. Although quantities are limited, we hope you will experience the exceptional quality of this year's Yilan tea.

★Comes with the official seal from the tea leaf tasting competition - 150g tea tin

★Comes in a 300g gift box (150g x 2 cans) with the official seal from the tea leaf tasting competition.
This product contains tea leaves that won awards at a tea competition organized by the Yilan County Government and the Yilan County Tea Association. It will be delivered in a tea canister with an "official seal" (seal sticker) guaranteeing its quality by the organizing bodies.

The tea leaves inside are the same as those in our 3g/30g/50g individual packs, but the officially sealed tea tin and presentation box are a testament to the quality and reliability of the tea leaves, certified at a tea competition.

It has high value as a gift or for collection. Please enjoy the reliable quality that only a tea from a tea competition can offer, and the peace of mind that comes with official packaging.

About Yilan Tea

Qingxin Oolong is a representative variety widely used in Taiwanese high-mountain tea, and is known for its elegant orchid-like fragrance that emerges when it is lightly fermented.

On the other hand, Yilan is located at a lower altitude compared to high-mountain tea-producing regions, and its tea is characterized by being made primarily from leaves, without using stems. As a result, the flavor tends to be more characterized by the rich umami and depth inherent in the tea leaves themselves, rather than the lightness derived from stems.

Furthermore, because Yilan tea is produced near the Pinglin area, its flavor is similar to Wenshan Baozhong tea, with a light aroma. However, Yilan is located in eastern Taiwan and is far from other regions, so a method of lightly rolling the tea leaves developed to make them easier to transport.

As a result, Yilan tea has a unique shape that falls between the elongated, cord-like shape of Wenshan Baozhong tea and the spherical shape of high-mountain tea, and is generally called "hemispherical." It is also commonly called "shrimp-shaped" because the shape of the tea leaves resembles dried shrimp.

This hemispherical shape is less likely to crumble even when vacuum-packed like spherical tea, yet it opens up faster and is easier to brew in a short time. It's not a shape you see very often on the market, but it's interesting to check if it's from Yilan if you do come across it. In fact, it's one of the unique characteristics of Yilan tea that is known even among professional tea connoisseurs.
